Sage Kashyap has been written repeatedly in the Puranas, let us know who was Rishi Kashyap. There have been seven sages in the present seventh Vaivasvat Manvantara, in these sages the name of Rishi Kashyap comes. When there is talk of creation in the Puranas, it means the origin of creatures or human beings. Sage Kashyap is the first human to expand his clan. He was the learned son of Marichi, the Manas son of Brahma. They are also known as Anishtanemi. His mother was the daughter of Kala Kardam Rishi and sister of Kapil Dev. Rishi Kashyap is considered to be the best among sages. According to the Puranas, we are all children of Rishi Kashyap. Sage Kashyap's hermitage was on the summit of Mount Meru, where he used to remain absorbed in the meditation of Parabrahma Parmatma. According to the Puranas, Lord Brahma ji first appeared on earth, Daksha Prajapati was born from Brahma ji. At the request of Brahma, Daksha Prajapati and his wife Asikni became the parents of 66 girls. 13 of these girls became the wives of Rishi Kashyap. From these girls the universe developed and Kashyap was called the creator. Aditi, Diti, Danu, Kastha, Arishta, Sursa etc. became wives of the prominent sage Kashyap among the seven sages. Kashyap gave birth to 12 Adityas from the womb of his wife Aditi, including the Vamana avatar of Lord Narayana. Manu was born to Viswan, the son of sage Kashyap. Manu was blessed with ten great sons named Ikshvaku Dishta, Karush Prsadhra. Rishi Kashyap gave birth to two sons named Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha and a daughter named Simhika from Diti's womb. Hiranyakashipu had 4 sons- Anuhallad, Hallada, Bhakta Pralhad and Sahallad. Sage Kashyap had 61 sons born to one of his wives, Shambhar, Arishta Shamber, Arishta Hayagreeva, Vibhavasu, Arun Kapil etc. 

Various beings were born from other wives of Rishi Kashyap. For example, horses and hoofed animals were born from Queen Katha. Gandharva was born to his wife Arishta. From a queen named Surasa the demons were born, from Ila were born the trees, creepers etc. Apsaras were born from the womb of the sage. A queen named Kashyap's Katrodvasha created snakes, scorpions, and venomous animals. Tamra gave birth to birds of prey like seeds, vultures etc. as her children. Surbhi created buffalo, cow and two hoofed animals. Rani Sarsa created predatory creatures like tigers etc. Timi gave birth to aquatic creatures. From the womb of Queen Vinata, Garuda, the vehicle of Vishnu, and Varuna, the charioteer of Surya, were born. Many serpents were born from Kadru's womb, birds were born from Queen Patangi. Shalabh was born from Yamini's womb. Prajapati Kashyap also married two daughters of Vaishvanar, Pulona and Kalka. From them were born 60 thousand of demons named Paulom and Kalkeya. It is believed that the ancient name of Kashmir was after the name of Rishi Kashyap. The whole of Kashmir was ruled by Rishi Kashyap and his sons. The history of Rishi Kashyap is considered ancient.
