Few days ago, I got a chance to participate in a
workshop of Theater and music department of Doon University. There I met with an
assistant professor Mr. Abhishek who is the assistant professor of Japanies
language of language department in Doon University. He played an instrument
there and I got attracted with the sound created by the instrument he played.
Thereafter, I met him and asked about the instrument and truly it is my first
experience of this instrument which impressed me much due to its unique sound.
Mr. Abhishek told that it is an Austrilain instrument and its name is "Didgeridoo". It also called the sound of nothingness. After this incident, I
researched about this unique music instrument andsharing with you whatever the knowledge I
come across about this.

The Didgeridoo is known as a wind instrument(the
droning Aboriginal Australian wind instrument) made up of hollow wood of Bamboo. The earliest occurrences of the word in print include a 1908 edition of the " Hamilton Spectator " referring to a 'did-gery-do'(hollow bamboo) [Hamilton Spectator. No. 7567. Victoria, Australia. 24 October 1908. p. 8. Retrieved 28 January 2017 – via National Library of Australia.].First time it is played by abnormal people in Northen Australia an
estimated 1500 years ago. The Didgeridoo which played first time was made from
fallen Bamboo branches that had been naturally hollowed but by termites.
But the modern Didgeridoo’s are commonly made from eucalyptus, bamboo and agave. It is a pitched instrument as well as a percussion instrument. Each
didge has one fundamental tone as well as series of overtones that can be
altered by the lips of the player. It can also be played rhythmically serving
as a bass as well as a time keeping instrument. It is used for several
applications including beatboxing dance music and meditation practice.
According to the Cambridge dictionary its meaning is “a long wooden wind instrument
played by Australian Aborigines to produce a long deep sound". Every instrument has some health benefits too. Therefore, playing didgeridoo has also amazing health benefits, which are found in some studies. An article published in 2006 in "The British Medical Journal"revealed that learning and practicing the didgeridoo helped reduce snoring and obstructive sleep apnea by strengthening muscles in the upper airway, thus decreasing their tendency to disintegrate during sleep. ["Didgeridoo playing as alternative treatment for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome: randomized controlled trial, Puhan MA, Suarez A, Lo Cascio C, et al. (2005)] A small study published in 2010 "The Journal of Rural Health", reported the improvements in the management of asthma disease of Aboriginal teens when incorporating didgeridoo playing. भगवान शिव को शम्भु के नाम से भी पुकारा जाता है । यह नाम, उनके नाम शिव और माता पार्वती के अंबा नाम से जोड़ कर बनता है। भगवान शिव का शम्भु स्वरूप संसार का कल्याण करने वाला है। माना जाता है कि, भगवान श्री राम ने युद्ध से पहले रामेश्वरम में शिवलिंग की स्थापना की और जिसे शम्भु स्तुति कहा जाता है। शम्भु स्तुति का उल्लेख ब्रह्म पुराण में भी मिलता है। सोमवार का दिन भगवन शिव का दिन मन जाता है। श्रवण मास में भगवन शिव की पूजा - अर्चना विशेष फलदयाक होती है। इस दिन भगवान शिव की आराधना और ध्यान से जीवन के सरे दुःख और संकट दूर होते हैं। श्रवण मास में भगवान शिव के शम्भु की पूजा करनी चाहिए । इस दिन ब्रह्म पुराण में रचित शम्भु स्तुति का पाठ करने से सभी मनोकामनाओं की पूर्ति होती है। सोमवार के दिन शिवलिंग पर जल चढ़ाते हुए शम्भु स्तुति का पाठ करें। इस से भगवान शिव प्रसन्न होंगे और आपकी मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होंगी ।
॥१॥
नमामि शम्भुं पुरुषं पुराणं, नमामि सर्व ज्ञम पारभावम् ।
I reverentially bow down to Shambhu (the cause of Happiness), Who is the Primeval Being (ever present in all as consciousness), I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who is All-Knowing and Whose Meditative State (symbolising our innermost consciousness) is boundless, I reverentially bow down to Rudra Who is the Lord of all (in fierce form associated with destruction), and Who is Undecaying in nature, I reverentially bow down to Sharva (Who holds the entire Earth); I reverentially bow down my head (again and again to all these forms).
मैं शंभू (खुशी का कारण) को नमन करता हूं, जो आदिम प्राणी हैं (सदैव चेतना के रूप में सभी में मौजूद हैं), मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (उन्हें) नमन करता हूं जो सर्वज्ञ हैं और जिनकी ध्यान अवस्था (हमारी अंतरतम चेतना का प्रतीक है) असीम है, मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक रुद्र को नमन करता हूं, जो सभी के भगवान हैं (विनाश से जुड़े भयंकर रूप में), और जो प्रकृति में अविनाशी हैं, मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक शर्वा (पूरी पृथ्वी को धारण करने वाले) को नमन करता हूं; मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (इन सभी रूपों को बार-बार) सिर झुकाता हूं।

नमामि देवं परमव्ययंतं, उमापतिं लोकगुरुं नमामि ।
नमामि दारिद्र विदारणं तं, नमामि रोगापहरं नमामि ॥
Meaning:
I reverentially bow down to the Divine Lord Who abides as the unchangeable state beyond the human mind, To that Lord Who is also embodied as the consort of Devi Uma, and Who is the Spiritual Teacher of the whole World, I reverentially bow down, I reverentially bow down to Him Who tears asunder our (inner) Poverties (He being present as our most Glorious Inner Being),
(And) I reverentially bow down to Him Who takes away our Diseases (of Samsara) (by revealing His Glorious Nature).
मानव मन से परे अपरिवर्तनीय स्थिति के रूप में निवास करने वाले ईश्वरीय भगवान को मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन करता हूं, उस भगवान को, जो देवी उमा की पत्नी के रूप में भी अवतरित हैं, और जो पूरे विश्व के आध्यात्मिक शिक्षक हैं, मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन करता हूं, मैं आदरपूर्वक उसे नमन करें जो हमारी (आंतरिक) गरीबी को चीरता है (वह हमारे सबसे शानदार आंतरिक अस्तित्व के रूप में मौजूद है),

Meaning:
I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who is the cause of all Auspiciousness, (ever present behind the mind) in His Inconceivable form, I reverentially bow down (to Him) Whose form is like the seed giving rise to the Universe, I reverentially bow down to Him Who is also the cause of the maintenance of the Universe, (And) I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who is (finally) the destroyer (of the Universe).
मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (उसे) नमन करता हूं, जो सभी शुभों का कारण है, (मन के पीछे मौजूद) उनके अकल्पनीय रूप में, मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (उसे) नमन करता हूं जिसका रूप ब्रह्मांड को जन्म देने वाले बीज के समान है, मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक उसे नमन जो ब्रह्मांड के रखरखाव का कारण भी है, (और) मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (उसे) नमन करता हूं जो (अंत में) संहारक (ब्रह्मांड का) है।
I reverentially bow down to Him Who is dear to Gauri (Devi Parvati) and unchangeable (which also signifies that Shiva and Shakti are inseparably connected), I reverentially bow down to Him Who is Eternal, and Who is the One Imperishable behind all the perishable, I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who is of the nature of Consciousness and Whose Meditative State (symbolising the all-pervading consciousness) is immeasurable, To that Lord Who has Three Eyes, I reverentially bow down.
॥५॥
नमामि कारुण्यकरं भवस्या, भयंकरं वापि सदा नमामि ।
नमामि दातारमभीप्सितानां, नमामि सोमेशमुमेशमादौ ॥
Meaning:
I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who is the showerer of Compassion in the World (to the good),as also Who creates Terror (in the hearts of the evil); to that Lord I reverentially bow down, I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who gives the desired objects (to His Devotees), (And) I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who is the Lord of Soma (Moon God), Uma (Devi Parvati) and others.
मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (उसे) नमन करता हूं जो दुनिया में (अच्छे के लिए) करुणा की बौछार है, साथ ही जो आतंक पैदा करता है (बुराई के दिलों में); उस भगवान को मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन करता हूं, मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (उसे) नमन करता हूं जो वांछित वस्तुएं (अपने भक्तों को) देता है, (और) मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक (उसे) नमन करता हूं जो सोम का स्वामी (चंद्रमा देव), उमा है (देवी पार्वती) और अन्य।
I reverentially bow down to Him Who has the Three Vedas as His Three Eyes, I reverentially bow down to Him Who is beyond the Three Forms (of Brahma, Vishnu and Shankara) (perceived through the senses), I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who is the Auspicious (Nature) beyond the Reality and Unreality (of the phenomenal world), I reverentially bow down to Him; I reverentially bow down to the One Who takes away the Sins (when the heart is surrendered to Him in Meditation).

Meaning:
I reverentially bow down to Him Who is always engaged in the welfare of the World, I reverentially bow down (to Him) Who assumes many Forms (for the welfare of the World),He Who is the Protector of the World and the dispenser of transitory and everlasting (fruits of actions), To Him I reverentially bow down; To that Lord of the World I reverentially bow down.
जो सदा जगत् के कल्याण में लगा रहता है, उसे मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन करता हूँ, जो अनेक रूप धारण करता है (संसार के कल्याण के लिए), वह जो संसार का रक्षक है और जो संसार का पालन करने वाला है। क्षणभंगुर और चिरस्थायी (कर्मों का फल), मैं उन्हें श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन करता हूं; विश्व के उस प्रभु को मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन करता हूं।
To that Lord Who is rightly the Lord of the Yagnya, to whom all oblations finally go,So also, He Who is the final Refuge of the World as Sadashiva, (And) He Who gives everything when worshipped, (To that Lord) I reverentially bow down, Who is fond of giving boons (to His Devotees), and Who is my Ishtadeva (Chosen Deity).

I reverentially bow down (to Him) (Who removes) (internally) the sorrows and afflictions of the World (affecting us), (To that Lord, the remover of sorrows) Who holds the Moon on His head (symbolizing Bliss), I reverentially bow down, I reverentially bow down to the Lord Who holds the Ganga on His Head (symbolizing Purity), and Who is glorified by all, To that consort of Uma Who is the best among Divinities, I reverentially bow down.

(To the Lord Who is worshipped) with Panchamrita (Five Food items), Fragrant Incense, Light of Lamp, Flowers of various colours, Mantras of various types (glorifying Him), as well as in other ways with all Upacharas (Worship Offerings), To that Soma (Nectar Essence of our Lives) Who is worshipped (by all), I reverentially bow down my head.
