Why should we not eat without taking bath ?

Why should we not eat without taking bath ?

There's a reason why our ancestors used to state that each activity must be completed within a certain amount of time. They despised the thought of midnight hunger pangs and avoided chit-chat during dinner. This is why our forefathers and mothers lived long and healthy lives without succumbing to lifestyle diseases. Taking bed tea and even breakfast without taking a bath is now considered acceptable, especially among educated people. They even debate if eating before bathing is harmful due to the negative influence of western culture. The solution can be found in our scriptures, which state that eating without taking a bath is equivalent to eating faeces.

Ayurvedic reason

According to this age-old Indian knowledge, every action must be completed within a set time frame, and doing so at odd hours might actually harm the body. In the context of taking a shower after eating, Ayurveda says that when you eat food, the fire element in your body is activated to aid in digestion. However, if you go and take a shower, the body temperature goes down and the digestive process slows down.

Scientific reason

Your body temperature drops after you take a shower, according to medical science. Because the body begins to cool, it must work extra hard to maintain a constant temperature that aids digestion. As a result, the digestive process is halted as the blood that aids digestion begins to flow to other parts of the body. It can also cause bloating, nausea, and acidity.

Now question arise that how long should you wait, then?

When it comes to how long we should wait before showering, there is no definitive answer. Modern research recommends waiting at least 35 minutes after eating to take a bath, however traditional beliefs suggest waiting at least 2-3 hours after eating to shower. Bathing before dining is recommended since it leaves you feeling refreshed, invigorated, and ready to eat.
